Is your skin darker on your inner thighs? You are not alone in coping with this problem. This skin disease affects a significant number of people, regardless of skin tone. The discoloration is caused by an excess of melanin, a pigment that gives skin its colour. This is known as hyperpigmentation, and it may even spread into the bikini or groyne area.
A number of causes may lead to the darkening of the skin of the inner thighs. Skin chafing, which may occur while exercise or walking, might be one of the reasons of discoloration. This is especially prevalent in overweight or obese individuals. Obese people are more likely to have black inner thighs as a result.
Other reasons include hormonal imbalance, acanthosis nigricans (a skin pigmentation disorder), some medications, friction from tight clothing, dry skin, sun exposure, and diabetes mellitus. Here are a few home remedies that may help lighten dark skin on your thighs:
Coconut oil and lemon juice scrub
Lemons may dramatically reduce hyperpigmentation, whilst coconut oil can be used as a moisturiser to keep your thighs soft and supple. To make the scrub, mix coconut oil and lemon juice. Then, massage the mixture into the affected area for 10 minutes before washing it out.
Sugar scrub
If the black skin is caused by a buildup of dead skin, exfoliating with a sugar scrub may help. To make the scrub, mix fresh lemon juice, sugar, and honey. Gently scrub the liquid into your inner thighs, then rinse.
Oatmeal and yoghurt scrub
Oatmeal may be used as an exfoliant, and yoghurt includes lactic acid, which helps improve the health of your skin. These chemicals have a multitude of other skin-beneficial effects. To create oatmeal scrub, mix equal parts oats and plain yoghurt. Make a paste of the ingredients and apply it to the discoloured area of skin. Gently scrub for a couple minutes, then rinse with lukewarm water.
Rub with potatoes
It is an old traditional therapy for lightening dark spots on the skin. Catecholase, an enzyme found in potatoes, is believed to be responsible for this effect. Massage a slice of potato over the affected area for 15 minutes.
